Tribute to Carole King's Tapestry

  • Jazz Central Studios 407 Central Avenue Southeast Minneapolis, MN, 55414 United States (map)

Thursday, Nov. 19, Katia and fellow jazz and R&B vocalist Sheridan Zuther pay tribute to one of the greatest albums of all time - Carole King's Tapestry! Released in 1971, Tapestry was Carole King's second studio album and is to this day one of the best-selling records of all time! Winner of four Grammy awards, this iconic album features such classic hits as "It's Too Late," "I Feel the Earth Move" and "Natural Woman," to name a few!

In a tribute to this timeless singer-songwriter, Katia and Sheridan will take you on a musical journey through the stories and songs of the album that brought Ms. King to prominence. This is their first "go" at this material, and they are excited to workshop these songs with you--in hopes of making this a full length show! They will perform solos and duets of their favorite songs from the album, accompanied by Steven Hobert.

Sheridan and Katia also sing together in Twin Cities' Cabaret Artist Network(TCCAN), a group of local singers dedicated to sharing the classic art of New York-style cabaret. In TCCAN, cabaret is defined as personal story telling by the vocalist through song interpretation; vocalists are devoted to the intimacy of the moment, creating a unique connection with the audience through words and music. Katia and Sheridan will strive to bring this intimacy and authenticity to this performance as well. See "Upcoming Events" (below), for info on TCCAN's upcoming November Cabaret Salon!

Jazz Central Studios (407 Central Ave SE, Minneapolis, MN 55414) is a non-profit jazz organization that features live music five nights a week. Located in Northeast Minneapolis, across the street from the Aveda Institute, it is the Cities' best spot for live jazz--if you haven't been there yet, I highly recommend it!

Suggested donation is $10 (credit cards accepted), and light food, sodas and water are available for cash donation.
